NATION: Corona's daughter not capable to buy a house

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) chief Kim Jacinto-Henares said on the 6th day of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona that, the chief justice daughter is not capable to buy his wife a P18-million worth house in La Vista.

Ma. Carla Constantino-corona only ha a tacable income of P8,476 in 2009 but the property in La Vista was under her name.

The bureau chief said that the agency will investigate the property if it was a donation or illegally acquired. They only knew of the anomalies only last week when the prosecution team asked a copy of the chief justice's income tax return.

The Senate subpoenaed Henares and required her to submit original copies of all income tax return of Corona, his wife Cristina, his daughters Carla and Charina, son Francis and son-in-law Constantino Castillo to disclose the report submitted by the chief justice in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).

ENTERTAINMENT: The Rock appreciates the Filipinos


Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson appreciates the Filipinos with the humility they are showing to everyone.

The Rock is promoting his new film 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' in 3D film.

He said these appreciative words when the cast of the film had their Asian premier in Taipei, Taiwan.

He said that he is fond of working with Filipinos like in the film he worked with Vanessa Hudgen, who is half Filipino, and saw how humble Vanessa's family are.

ENTERTAINMENT : Katy Perry in Manila

Katy Perry invited all concert goers in the Philippines to watch her 'California Gurls Dream Tour' concert this Sunday.

Her concert will be at the Mall of Asia Concert Ground in Pasay City at 8pm January 22.

This is Katy's second time to do concert in the Philippines. The first was back in 2009 when she performed with Filipino rocker Arnel Pineda of the band Journey.

Katy's hid includes 'I kissed a Girl', 'Fireworks' and 'California Gurls.'

ABROAD: Filipino crew of Costa Concordia hailed

The Filipino crew of the ill-fated Costa Concordia that ran aground in Italy last week, was hailed for accommodating and helping the passengers to get off the ship safe.

The 296 crew were commended by their agency the Magsaysay Maritime Corporation for the reports they received from their foreign counterpart.

In the report, a French passenger thanked the cooks and the stewardesses, all Filipinos, in helping them and many of the passengers to get down to the lifeboats for their safety.

The 296 Filipino crew are now in Rome, Italy and awaiting for their flight back to the Philippines.



NATION : Too many irregular declarations in Corona's SALN

On the third day of the Corona impeachment case, the prosecution team found too many irregularities in the Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Iloilo Representative Neil Tupas Jr., the lead prosecutor, said that Corona did not declare all of his properties in his SALN from 2002 when he was appointed to the high court up to the present.

When the defense team were asked with regards to the non declaration of Corona's properties, the team said that they are not worried with the prosecution's claim.

The properties of Corona that the prosecution team presented in the Senate court that the team said was purchased in from 2003 to 2009 were:

- a P2.7-million unit in One Burgundy Plaza in Quezon City acquired in 2003,
- a unit at The Columns in Makati City acquired in 2004,
- a P9.1-million unit at Spanish Bay Tower in Taguig City acquired in 2005,
- a P6.1-million unit at McKinley Hill in Taguig City acquired in 2008, and
- a P14.5-million unit at Bellagio I Tower in Taguig City acquired in 2009

LIFESTYLE : Philippines is the 8th most friendliest country in the world


The HSBC's Expat Explorer Survey made a list of 2011 most friendliest countries in the world and the Philippines landed the 8th in the list.

The survey is based on ability befriend locals, capacity for integrating in the community, learning the local language and ease to fit into the new culture.

Financially, Philippines also increased by 47%. Many Filipinos are now enjoying a much luxurious life and owning properties is one of their main goals.

The Top 10 most friendliest countries in the world are:

6. Turkey
7. United Kingdom
8. Philippines

There is now a reason in the Department of Tourism's "It's more fun in the Philippines", it's not only fun here, but you will be in one of the world's most friendliest place.

BUSINESS: NAIA, world's 2nd worst airport


Bad news for our tourism's "It's fun in the Philippines." The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was voted as second worst airport in the world.

NAIA's Terminal 1 is the 2nd's worst airport according to travel guide publisher Frommer's. NAIA-1 is just second to New York's JFK Airport Terminal 3.

The the list was based on the criteria on cleanliness, services, on-time departures, navigation and the easy access to and from the city.

Sad to say but NAIA-1 is the only Asian airport in the top lists of worsts airport. The list goes:
1. JFK Airport Terminal 3 (New York)
2. NAIA-1 (Manila)
3. Newark Terminal B (New Jersey)
4. US Airways (New York's La Guardia Airport)
5. Sheremetyevo Airport Terminal B/C (Moscow)

Voted as the best international airport in the word is the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Asian airports that enter the best list are Incheon Airport in Seoul, South Korea and Changi International Airport Terminal 3 in Singapore. JetBlue Airways Terminal 5 in New York was the only US airport in the best list.
